OSAGE, IOWA - Bill E. Grinstead, 87, of Osage, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City.

Graveside inurnment services will be held at a later date at the Orchard Cemetery in Orchard, Iowa, with military honors at the grave by Osage American Legion Post 278.

Bill was born April 23, 1925, in Osage, the son of John Harvey and Corinne Pearl (Morse) Grinstead.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Bill was proud of the fact that his father, his seven brothers, and three brothers-in-law also served in the military. Bill lived and worked in Osage for many years, with one of his places of employment being Bartch Electric. He was a skilled woodworker and loved bowling and playing horseshoes.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his older brother, Gerald John Grinstead; his younger brother, Ronald Gene Grinstead; his younger sister, Cyndie Brumm; niece, Randi Johnson Krukow; nephew, David Todd Morrison; and brother-in-law, Bill Johnson.

He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Donald Dean (Melva) Grinstead of Lewiston, Idaho, Suzie Mae (Leslie) Thurnau of Osage, James Allen (Janet) Grinstead of Osage, Lawrence Eugene (Barbara) Grinstead of Austin, Minnesota, Ruth Ann Johnson of Riceville, Alice Turpin Grinstead of Osage, Richard Dale Grinstead of Tucson, Arizona, David Leroy Grinstead of Lewiston, Idaho, Lynda Louise (Joseph) Retterath of Eagan, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Roger Brumm of Stacyville; sister-in-law, Joyce Grinstead of Charles City; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside inurnment services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at the Orchard Cemetery in Orchard, with military honors by Osage American Legion Post 278. Bill’s great-nephew, Christopher Morrison, will officiate. To those who knew Bill and friends of the family, an invitation is extended to attend and celebrate his life.

He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Donald Dean (Melva) Grinstead of Lewiston, Idaho, Dorine Mae “Suzi” (Leslie) Thurnau of Osage, James Allen (Janet) Grinstead of Osage, Lawrence Eugene (Barbara) Grinstead of Austin, Minn., Ruth Ann Johnson of Riceville, Alice Turpin Grinstead of Osage, Richard Dale Grinstead of Tucson, Ariz., David Leroy Grinstead of Lewiston, Idaho, Lynda Louise (Joseph) Retterath of Eagan, Minn.; brother-in-law, Roger Brumm of Stacyville; sister-in-law, Joyce Hinders Grinstead of Charles City; and many nieces and nephews.
