Rose Belle (Penney) Shotliff – February 26, 1869 – March 9, 1947

Stacyville – Funeral rites are scheduled for Wednesday at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Rose Shotliff, 78, at the home in Stacyville. Burial will be in Stacyville Cemetry.

Mrs. Shotliff, who had been an invalid for the last 10 years, died at her home Sunday.

Nee Rose Penney, she was born February 26, 1869, the daughter of William and Hannah (Halsey) Penney, at Pennyville, near Stacyville. She attended local schools and on November 30, 1891, was married to Joseph H. Shofliff. The couple established their home at Penneyville, and had lived in the same vicinity since. Her husband preceded her in death on September 2, 1917. She made her home with her only son Robert, in Stacyville.

She leaves two daughters; Mrs. Ralph Kindschuh, Osage; and Mrs. Esther Wolf, St. Paul, Minnesota; a son, Robert, Stacyville; five sisters; Mrs. Laura Myrick, Yakima, Washington; Mrs. Clarence Gerbig, Tacoma, Washington; Mrs. Georgia Faas, Stacyville; Mrs. Otis Dailey, LeRoy, Minnesota; Mrs. Edna Hogan, Aiken, Minnesota; three brothers; George and William Penney, Rochester, Minnesota; and Harvey Penney, Minneapolis, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by one daughter; Mrs. Myrtle Sumbric; four sisters; Mrs. Dee Hogan; Mrs. William Dailey; Mrs. Peter Miller; and Fannie Penney; and one great-grandchild.
