Mrs. Ole Olsen Juvbraaten

Anne Olsdatter Fonnhuseie was born September 23, 1812 at Fonhuseie (Fonnhuseie), Sor Aurdal, Oppland, Norway. Anne was baptized on October 18, 1812 at the Bang Kirke, Sor Aurdal, Oppland, Norway.

Anne married Ole Olsen Juvbraaten on September 18, 1837 at Bang Kirke (church), Sor Aurdal, Oppland, Norway. The couple lived at Juvbraaten, Aadal, Buskerud, Norway and had five children there:

Taran Olsdatter (born October 21, 1837, married Halstein Everson (Norby) July 4, 1858 Dane, Wisconsin, died April 16, 1912 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa);

Gunhild Olsdatter (born August 12, 1840, married Knud Olsen Moen December 27, 1860 Dane, Wisconsin, next married Andrew Freeburg December 16, 1872 Clay, Iowa, died July 6, 1895 Clay, Iowa);

Ole Olsen (Nordby)(born June 11, 1843, married Augusta Brandvold September 7, 1873 Peterson, Clay, Iowa, died October 15, 1883 Spink, South Dakota);

Guri Olsdatter (born February 6, 1846, married Halsten Blacklin November 2, 1866 Dane, Wisconsin, died Novebember 26, 1930 Albert Lea, Freeborn, MN) and

Kari Olsdatter (born March 16, 1849, emigrated 1857 to Dane, Wisconsin, died in USA).

Taran's spouse, Ole Olsen Juvbraaten was born 1805 at Buskerud, Norway and died March 13, 1850 at same. Taran waited seven years after Ole's death and then emigrated to Dane, Wisconsin in 1857 with her four younger children, her daughter Taran had already emigrated there.

Family found in the 1860 Vermont Township, Dane County Wisconsin census living in a separate houshold but the same farm as her daughter Taran and son-in-law, Halstein Iverson Nordby: Anne Olson age 48, Gunhild Olson age 20, Guri Olson age 14, Ole Olson age 17, Cari Olson age 11. Post office was Black Earth.

Family moved. Next found in the 1880 Federal census at Douglas, Clay, Iowa: Ole Norby, age 36, born in Norway, farmer; Augusta Norby, age 23, wife Oscar Norby, age 6, son; Bertha Norby, age 3, daughter; Annie Norby, age 1, daughter; Anne Norby, age 68, mother, born in Norway; Reka Brandvold, age 9, sister-in-law.

In 1887, Anne O. Norby is shown as proving up a homestead in Spink County, South Dakota on the BLM database.

Found in the 1895 census living at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, she had come to live with Halsten and Taran Nordby (Taran was her daughter) sometime before 1895, listed as a member of their household. (Anne Olsen age 83).

Anne Olsdatter died August 13, 1895 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
