Knut P. Vinje was born at Voss, Norway, January 25, 1827. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church there.
He came to America in 1882. The next year, at Northwood, Iowa, he was united in marriage with Anna Hemsing. This union was blessed with three children, Mrs. Eugene Mereness, of Glidden, Iowa, and Helma and Viking Vinje, of St. Ansgar, Iowa.
Mr. Vinje was taken sick about two years ago. He lingered on until death claimed him of February 17th, 1911.
He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, three children, and also three sisters and three brothers in Norway.
During his illness he often spoke of asking forgiveness of his sins at God's mercy seat in prayer. Just before he died he stated to his dear ones that he was prepared to go and that he would soon be home.
The funeral was held at the U.N.L. Church February 20th, Rev. M.E. Waldeland officiating, and the remains were laid to rest in the U.N.L. Cemetery north of St. Ansgar.
