Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Von Bergen, 85, who died February 28, 1956 at the home of her daughter in Cedar Falls, were held March 2, 1956 at the First Lutheran church with the Rev. O.A. Langehough officiating.

Born Bertha Caroline Stangohr August 1, 1870, in Germany, she came to America in 1872 with her parents, the late Frederick and Caroline Stangohr. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

On August 22, 1895, she was married to John Von Bergen in Grafton, Iowa. They lived in Mitchell county all of their married life, in the Otranto community and later moved to St. Ansgar.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Claude Comer of Cedar Falls and Mrs. Alvin Johnson of Orchard, Iowa; also one granddaughter, Doris Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband April, 1951, also two sons and one daughter.

Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Langehough in charge of committal services.
