Mary C. Wetherell, 77, of Lebanon, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, at her home.

The Mass of Christian Burial took place Oct. 31 at Lebanon I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

She was born May 11, 1926, in Brainard, Neb., the daughter of George and Rose (Havlovic) Kriz. She moved to Iowa when she was young and later graduated from Milford High School. She attended college to learn telegraphy and worked for Union Pacific Railroad during World War II.

On Dec. 7, 1945, she married Richard Wetherell, in Goldendale, Wash. The couple moved from Arlington, Ore. to Lebanon in 1949.

She was a homemaker until after her children were grown, when, in 1971, she went to work at the Lebanon J.C. Penny store. She worked there as a sales clerk until 1986.

She was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church and was active in the church with St. Vincent DePaul, the Resurrection Choir, and taking communion to the homebound.

Mrs. Wetherell is survived by her husband, Richard of Lebanon; son George Wetherell of Albany; daughters Janey Lindgren of Lebanon, Francee Soper of Olympia, Wash., Rosalie Wetherell of Lebanon, Margaret Anne Wetherell of Albany, and Dorthy Gibbs of Lebanon; brother George Kriz of Winchester, Va.; sisters Georgia Harrington of Britt, Iowa, and Emma Kriz of David, Kent.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A son, Richard V. Wetherell; two infant daughters and sister Rosalie Kriz died before her.

They moved to Mitchell County, Iowa. Her parents are buried in the Visitation Cemetery, Mitchell Co., Iowa
