We have to record the death of another of the earliest settlers of this part of the country, a lady who came to America with the family of Rev. C.L. Clausen, the founder of St. Ansgar. The name of the deceased is Mrs. Bertha Thompson Mork, who died of dropsy at the home of her son-in-law, Halver Hansen, near Mona, on Friday, December 20, 1895.

She was born December 18, 1819, at Haabol Parish, Norway, and came to America in the spring of 1842, as has been stated, with the family Rev. C.L. Clausen. She stopped at Muskago, Wisconsin and in the latter part of the same year was married to Thore Thompson, who had been in America about two years. They moved to Mitchell County in 1854, settling on the farm which has since been her home. In 1871 Mr. Thompson died. Ten children were born to them, five of whom survive her, four of these being married. She also had twenty-five living grand children.

Since. her husband's death she spent most of the time with her son, Theodore at the old homestead, but for the past two years resided with her son-in-law, Halvor Hansen, who lives on a part of the old farm.

The funeral services were held at the St. Ansgar Norwegian Lutheran church Monday at 12:30, Rev. J. Olsen officiating with burial at the Norwegian cemetery.
