Last Friday another of our oldest residents of Mitchell Co., Mrs. K. Thorsen of Newburg twp. passed to the great beyond-to that haven whence no traveler returns, in the 84th year of her age.

Sonnova Guthormsen was born at Hensedael in Hallingdal Norway, in June 1816, and was therefore eighty three and one half years old at the time of her death. AT the place of her birth, she was married to Knut Thorsen in 1847. They resided in Norway until 1865 when they came to America and settled on their farm in Newburg twp., Mitchell County on which they resided until the infirmities of age compelled them to take up their residence near their daughter, Mrs. John Gunderson, a year or so ago. Six children were born to them. One died in Norway, and Guthorm died here some years ago after having studied for the ministery for several years. The living children are Thor K. Thorsen of Otranto township, Mrs. John Gunderson of Newburg township, Mrs. Bergh of North Dakota, and Mrs. Wiger of Newburg township. She also had 18 grandchildren and one or more great grandchildren. She died January 6th, 1899 and the funeral was conducted by Rev. J. Olsen, January 10th and her remains laid to rest in the Norwegian Cemetery at St. Ansgar. The sympathy of many friends is extended to her sorrowing family.
