OSAGE, IOWA - Helen Janet Savre died on December 27, 2012, in Houston, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2013, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with graveside services to follow at the Osage Cemetery.

Died December 27, 2012
Helen Janet Savre, beloved wife, mother and friend, passed away after a long illness on December 27, 2012, in Houston, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2013, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with graveside services to follow at the Osage Cemetery.
She was born on April 20, 1928, in Davenport, Iowa, to Herbert and Cordelia Liljequist. Helen attended and graduated from Davenport High School in Davenport, Iowa. After studying one year at Iowa University she spent a year in Cleveland working at an electronics manufacturing company in the financial department. Upon returning to Davenport she worked as a personal shopper for a large department store. She married Wayland Savre, a graduate student, in 1950. They moved, after his graduation, to West Texas where they lived for eight years before moving overseas due to Wayland’s job.
For the next five years they lived in Kuwait, Mozambique and Angola with their two children, Debra and Steven. After five years the family was transferred back to the United States to Houston where they have resided for the last 42 years. During this time, Helen attended and graduated from Lolly Lowe Business College. She worked at several companies as a temporary employee but decided to quit to travel with her husband. Helen suffered a stroke in 2002 which left her aphasic. In 2009, she suffered another stroke complicated by cardiac arrest.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Wayland, her two children, Debra and Steven, one grandchild, Thomas as well as her eldest sister, Kay Mason of St. Petersburg, Florida.
