Lauritz Adolph Tollefson was born at St. Ansgar, Iowa, July 18, 1881. He was baptized August 6th of the same year and confirmed by Rev. Olsen May 26th, 1897. Lauritz stayed at home working on the farm till he was of age. For the last five years he worked near Glyndon, Minn. While there he was taken sick with tonsiltis, this disease developed into quinsy and finally resulted in a general poisoning of the system. He suffered about seven weeks. He came home a week before his death. During the last days of his life he suffered greatly, the paraxyms of pain being at times very severe. He suffered very patiently for he had begun to seek salvation in the Saviour who suffered so much for us. And the Saviour did not reject him. He found peace for his soul and had comfort in the blessed assurance of the forgiveness of all his sins. He was fully conscious to the very last and spoke continually of his dear Saviour. Death brought relief from all his suffering on Wednesday morning July 31 at 2:30 a.m.
The funeral was conducted at the U.N.L. church on August 2nd, Rev. M.E. Waldeland officiating in both languages. His remains were laid to rest in the U.N.L. Cemetery near those of his little sister and grandparents.
