Mrs. E.C. Richmond, 92, of Riceville, passed away at 12:15 p.m., Tuesday, February 9 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, New Hampton, where she spent the last four years. Death was attributed to bronchial pneumonia.

Mary Ellen Burke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Burke, was born December 4, 1867 on a farm one mile west of Riceville. She attended the Riceville Schools and the Breckenridge Institute. Decorah. For a number of years she taught in both rural and town schools of Riceville.

On June 4, 1895, she was united in marriage to E Carlton Richmond of Riceville. To this union four children were born.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. A.E. (Lulu) Likin of Los Angeles, California; two sons, Lloyd W. Richmond of Riceville and Dr. Paul C. Richmond of New Hampton; 11 grand-children and 13 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband in 1928; one son, Edmund Burke Richmond, 1955; three brothers, John and Thomas Burke, Riceville; William Burke, Chicago and two sisters, Katherine Burke and Mrs. Nellie Roche, Los Angeles, California.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 11 at the Immaculate Conception Church of Riceville, with the Rev. A.F. Stirn officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Riceville.
