Northwood, Iowa - Doris E. Hanson, 92, of Northwood died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at the Deer Creek Lutheran Church, Carpenter, with the Rev. Lance Kittleson officiating. Burial will be at Deer Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood. Visitation will also be one hour prior to service at the church

#2:NORTHWOOD, IOWA - Doris E. Hanson, 92, of Northwood, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at the Lutheran Retirement Home, Northwood.
Funeral services will be on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Deer Creek Lutheran Church, Carpenter, with the Rev. Lance Kittleson officiating. Burial will be in the Deer Creek Cemetery, Carpenter. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood.
Doris was born on August 2, 1920, in Newburg Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, to Albert and Selma (Grapp) Kirchgatter. She graduated from Carpenter High School. Doris married Elmer S. Hanson on May 12, 1940, in Reinbeck. They spent their married life around the Carpenter area and retired to Northwood in 1974. After owning and operating the Chat'n Chew in Northwood, Doris worked at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood for more than 20 years.
Doris was very active in the Deer Creek Lutheran Church. Always, always being the hostess. She was an avid gardener and truly loved life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer in 1974; brothers: Lloyd, Melbourne and LaVern; sisters, Ruth Braun and Alice Smith.
Doris is survived by two sons: Verne (Ellen) Hanson of Indianapolis, Ind. and Darwin (Diane) of Swaledale; a daughter, Myrna (Ron) Jensen of Mason City; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren.
