Funeral services for M.E. Torblaa were held at 1:30 at the C.G. Goplerud home near Otranto and at 2:00 o'clock at the First Lutheran church in St. Ansgar. The services were in charge of the Rev. Olaf A. Langehough and burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery.
Mikkel E. Torblaa was born in Ulvik, Hardanger, Norway, April 14, 1862, and passed away very suddenly of a heart attack on February 12, 1941 at the C.G. Goplerud home.
He was a son of Erling and Martha Torblaa. At the age of 17 he immigrated to this country, locating near Northwood, Iowa.
On February 24, 1887, he was married to Sarah Borsheim of St. Ansgar, Iowa. Mr. Torblaa and wife established their home in Freeborn county, Minnesota, here they lived until 1903 when they made their home since, with the exception of a few years spent near St. Ansgar.
His chief interest was in his church and home. He was one of the founders of the North Deer Creek church and acted as an officer of that churh during his residence there.
His contributions to charity have always been liberal and given with sincere loyalty and love.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and children, namely: Mrs. Hannah Nelson, LaCrosse, Wis.; Elling and Mrs. Dora Goplerud, of St. Ansgar; Melvin and Lloyd of Fosston, Minnesota; Mrs. Martha Breisch, Ringtown, Penn.; and Viola at Carpenter, Iowa, also nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Heart Disease VictimST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the First Lutheran church, the Rev. O. A. Langehough in charge, for M. E. Torblaa, 78, who died Wednesday night of heart disease at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. G. Goplerud.
He is survived by his wife and seven children: Elling Torblaa; Mrs. C. G. Goplerud, St. Ansgar; Mrs. Arnold Breisch, Ringtown, Pennsylvania; Melvin and Lloyd Torblaa, Fosston, Minnesota; Mrs. R. J. Nelson, LaCrosse, Wisconsin; and Viola at Carpenter.
