Mrs. Sarah Torblaa, 83, passed away at her home in St. Ansgar, July 3, after a lingering illness.

Mrs. Torblaa, born in Ulvik, Hardanger, Norway, March 1, 1859 was the daughter of Torkel and Brita Borsheim, the oldest of four children. At the early age of six she emigrated to America with her parents. They located near Osage, later moving to a farm south of St. Ansgar.

Sarah Torblaa was baptized in Ulvik, Hardanger, Norway, and confirmed by Rev. J. Olsen in the First Lutheran church, St. Ansgar. She has always been a member of the Lutheran church wherever she resided.

After her marriage on February 24, 1887, to Mikkel E. Torblaa, she lived on a farm in Freeborn county, Minnesota, until 1903, when she moved to Fosston, Minnesota, where she lived for 33 years. The past five years she has resided in St. Ansgar at which place she passed away July 3, 1942, at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 2 days. Mr. Torblaa passed away on February 12, 1941.

Her chief interest was in her church and home. She was a charter member of the Ladies Aid in North Deer Creek and acted as president during her residence there. Because of her intense interest in church affairs she acted as a Ladies Aid officer at various times.

Being especially interested in Christian Education her contributions were very generous. She was a true Christian, a kind mother, and a faithful friend and neighbor.
