Ivers Halvorson Dammen was born April 8, 1826 at Gjefseneiet in Gran, Hadeland, Norway to Halvor Olsen and Martha Olsdatter.
Ivers married Siri Hansdatter on December 5, 1850 at Hadeland, Norway. Siri born August 9, 1821 at Horgeneiet, Hadeland, Norway, died August 16, 1871 at same.
The couple had six children: Halvor, Ingeborg, Hans, Martha, Johanna and Bertha. (See Bertha Maria Dammen Ask's obituary at this website for their birth/death details.)
Ivers left Hadeland, Norway in May of 1882 with some of his children to emigrate to Cedar, Mitchell County, Iowa to join his son, Halvor who had emigrated 9 years earlier. He became a naturalized citizen on October 17, 1899. Ivers was a farmer.
Found Ivers in the 1895 census living at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, as Iver Halvorson, age 68. Both surnames of Dammen and Halvorson used at various times.
Ivers Dammen Halvorson died October 9, 1899 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa and was buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
