Funeral services for Mrs. Johanna M. Sponheim, 70, who died in Albany, Oregon Friday, December 21, 1951 were held at the First Lutheran church here Thursday afternoon, December 27, with Rev. O.A. Langehough officiating.
Johanna M. Sponheim, daugther of A.N. and Dora S. Lund, was born in St. Ansgar township August 7, 1881. She was baptized in infancy and confirmed December 13, 1896 by Rev. Sigurd Olson.
After graduating from St. Ansgar high school in the class of 1900, she attended Iowa State college for two years.
On March 3, 1906 she was united in marriage with E.A. Sponheim, who was for years a successful merchant in St. Ansgr. To them three children were born, Dorothy in 1911, Lawrence in 1912 and Gene in 1918, all of whom survive their mother. Mr. Sponheim died April 12, 1941.
Aside from a diabetic condition which troubled her in later years, Mrs. Sponheim enjoyed good health through a long and useful life. A little more than a year ago other complications caused a general decline. During this time she lived with her sons, Lawrence and Gene at their home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin until last April when she went to live with her daughter, Dorothy in Albany, Oregon. Here she died Friday, December 21.
Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Langehough in charge of committal services.
