Monday For Emma Aker, 89Funeral services for Emma Louise Aker, 89, were held Monday, October 23, 1972 at 2 p.m. in the First Congregational Church of Riceville, with the Reverend John Gilbert officiating. Mrs Aker passed away at her home in Riceville on October 16, 1972.
Mrs. Aker was born July 27, 1883 at Sanborn, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew and Carrie Davidson. She had been a school teacher by profession.
Mrs. Aker is survived by one sister, Mrs. Adella Brown, St. Paul, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and one sister. She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star.
Interment was in Riverside Cemetery in Riceville with the Chisholm Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Obituary of Emma Davidson Aker
Emma Davidson Aker departed this life at her home in Riceville, Iowa, October 16, 1972.
Emma was born in Sanborn, Iowa, July 27, 1884, the eldest daughter of Andrew M. and Carrie Christopherson Davidson. Her father came from Lafoten Islands, off Norway, and her mother from Lillehammer, Norway to the United States, and resided at Sanborn, Iowa. Leaving Sanborn in 1900, they came to Riceville where Mr. Davidson purchased the grain elevator.
Emma graduated from Riceville High School with the class of 1902. Deciding on a teaching career, she entered Drake University of Des Moines and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from this institution.
She taught in rural schools in the grade schools at Estherville, Iowa, and later in the Minneapolis public school system for 25 years.
July 17, 1924, she was married to Hans Aker (now deceased).
Mrs. Aker was a member of the First Congregational Church of Riceville; of the Golden Rule Circle and the Minneapolis Retired Teachers Assn. She was a 50-year member of the Victoria Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Riceville, her membership of late being transferred to the Order of Eastern Star at Osage, Iowa.
Surviving is one sister, Mrs. Adella Brown of St. Paul, Minnesota; four nieces: Mrs. Bernadine Brown of St. Paul; Mrs. Carol Sjoberg of St. Paul; Mrs. Marjorie Bell of Helena, Montana; and Mrs. Jean Foley of Palo Alto, California; also six grand nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Helmar Davidson.
