Arnold Elmer Brown – March 19, 1875 – November 27, 1935
Arnold Brown, representative from Mitchell County, was born March 19, 1875, at Conyers, Georgia, the son of Loren and Mary (Tupper) Brown. The family came to Mitchell County in the late 1870’s.
He attended Cedar Valley Seminary at Osage, Iowa for four years and graduated in the law department, S.U.I. in general assembly. He lived on the farm until 1908. In 1904 he was speaker’s clerk in general assembly, for Hon. George W. Clark, speaker. He was clerk of courts for six years and practiced law eight years, including six years as county attorney. He was elected representative of the ninety-third district, Iowa, in 1918. He was always a republican in politics.
On December 26, 1911, he married Maude Naden and two children were born of this union; Kathryn and Loren Naden Brown.
Arnold died November 27, 1935. Surviving him are his wife and two children; Loren, an attorney in Osage and Mrs. Kathryn Wormley.
