CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - The Rev. Everett B. Hemann, 66, of Cedar Falls died Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at the Western Home Communities Windhaven.

He was born May 29, 1945, in Osage, son of Bernard J. and Olive S. (Halbach) Hemann.

He received his B.A. from Loras College in 1967. In 1971, he received his M. Div. from St. Meinrad School of Theology and was ordained May 21, 1971. in Stacyville for the Archdiocese of Dubuque. He earned a M.A. from Notre Dame University in 1982. The Rev. Hemann was Associate Pastor of All Saints in Cedar Rapids, while on Faculty staff at Regis High School and was Associate Pastor at both St. Patrick in Cedar Falls and St. Mary in Dike, while on staff at Columbus High School.

From 1979 to 1985, he was employed with Loras College in positions of Campus Ministry, Chaplain, Instructor of Religious Studies, Spiritual Director at St. Pius X Seminary and Resi-dence Hall Director. He then served as Director of the Archdiocesan Family Life Ministry Office, Pastor at St. John the Baptist in Peosta and Pastor of Annunciation in Lattnerville. In 1987, he became Director of the Archdi-ocesan Office of Worship and Rector at St. Pius X Seminary at Loras College. From 1993 to 2009, he was Pastor at St. Thomas Aquinas Church and Catholic Student Center in Ames; Pastor Ss. Peter and Paul in Gilbert; and Pastor at St. Patrick Parish in Cedar Falls from 2009 to 2011. The Rev. Hemann served on numerous archdiocesan boards and commissions. Nationally he served on the Executive Board of the National Federation of Priests' Councils and the NCCB Committee on Priestly Life and Ministry. He was Past President of the National Association of Priest Pilots and a certified flight instructor.

Everett is survived by four brothers, the Rev. Melvin Hemann of Cedar Falls, James (Gladys) Hemann of Eden Prairie, Minn., the Rev. John W. Hemann of Clear Lake, and Mathew (Karmen) Hemann of Stacyville; three sisters, Kathleen (Clemens) Full of Iowa City, Sister Camilla Hemann OSF of Morton, Miss., and Lucille Mueller of Wakefield, R.I.; an aunt, Bertilla Mullenbach of Rochester, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Helmut Mueller; and a niece, Janis Hemann.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 30, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls, with burial in Visitation Cemetery in Stacyville at 5 p.m. Monday.

Visitation will be held from noon-2:30 p.m. today, Saturday, April 28, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church and Catholic Student Center in Ames, where there will be a 2:30 p.m. vigil. Additional visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for one hour prior to services Monday at the church. Richardson Funeral Service (319-266-3525) in Cedar Falls is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to St. Thomas Aquinas Church and Catholic Student Center or St. Patrick Catholic Church.
