Johann (John) Fosholdt Olesen Aspeholt was born March 11, 1862 at the Aspeholt farm, Hedalen, Norway to Ole Iverson Aspeholt and Guri Johannsdatter Fosholdt. Johann was the oldest of their three children. His siblings were:

Gunhild (Julia) Olsdatter Aspeholt (born October 22, 1863 Hedalen, Norway, married John Albert 1888, 1 son; married Charles W. Nicol 1898), died unknown possibly in North Dakota), and
Iver Olsen Aspeholt (born October 5, 1869 Rock, Mitchell, Iowa, died October 21, 1948 same.)

Johann emigrated from Norway with his parents and sister, leaving Liverpool, England on the "North American" ship and arriving in Portland, Maine on April 26, 1867. The family traveled west to either Wisconsin or Iowa but eventually settled on a farm in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa.

Johann died May 30, 1876 at Rock, Mitchell, Iowa and was buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, IA.
