ILLNESS FATAL
TO JESSIE BROWNFuneral rites were Friday morning for Mrs. Jessie Brown, 86, who died March 30 at Mitchell County Memorial hospital. Her death was caused by a malignancy.
The Rev. Justin Kane, pastor was in charge of the rites at Sacred Heart Catholic church and burial was in the church cemetery. Arrangements were by C. R. Champion and Sons.
Jessie Dellage was born August 29, 1889, in the New Haven community, the daughter of Louis Morrissey* Dellage. In 1904 the family moved to Osage on a farm south of the fair grounds, and she was educated in the local school.
Harry Brown and Jessie Dellage were united in marriage in November, 1908. Her husband died in 1941 and she came to Osage and opened a café for truckers, on east Main Street. In 1942 she opened what was known as Brown’s DX Station and Lunch Room on Main and Second streets, operating it until her retirement in 1974.
Mrs. Brown was a lifelong member of the Catholic church.
Preceding her in death were her husband, one son Bennie; one daughter, Mrs. Beatrice Lancaster; and Her parents; three brothers, two half-sisters and two half-brothers.
Surviving are one son, Leland Brown of Osage; one brother, Lee Dellage of Long Acre, Minnesota; one sister, Mrs. Julia Bullin of Clinton; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four nieces and two nephews.
