WILL ADAMS, OLD RESIDENT, DIES DEC. 29
The community suffered the loss of one of its best liked residents in the death of will Adams, who passed away at 6 a.m., December 29. He lacked just one day of being 78 years old.
Mr. Adams suffered a slight stroke December 9, then a few days later had a similar seizure. Up until that time he had been active and seemingly enjoyed reasonably good health.
William Washington Adams was born near Monroe, Wisconsin, December 30, 1870, the only son of Levi and Martha Adams. His parents moved to Brohead, Wisconsin while he was still a small boy. He spent his youth there and attended school.
As a young man he came to Iowa and helped his uncle, George Griffin, on his farm west of McIntire. During these years he met Miss Clara Fesenmeyer and they were married at her home in Riceville, November 20, 1897.
After living in Wisconsin two years they returned to Iowa, purchasing a farm seven miles southwest of town, and remained there until September, 1946, when they moved to their present home in Riceville.
November 20, 1947, relatives and friends helped Mr. and Mrs. Adams celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. Adams was the last of his family as he was preceded in death by his parents and five sisters.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife; several nephews, nieces and other relatives, besides many friends. He became a member of the Methodist church at Brownville in 1916, and was always a ready, earnest worker in anything that would benefit the church.
He delighted in extending a helping hand and his unfailing little kindnesses will be ever remembered by his host of friends.
A funeral service was held at the Methodist church in Riceville, December 31, with the Reverend Paul Brown officiating. Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery. Pallbears were Victor Fesenmeyer, Lynn Fesnmeyer, Erwin Evenson, Joe Dynes, William Dynes and Glenn Moss.
