Donald D. Decker was born on July 11, 1938 near McIntire, Iowa; the son of John and Louis Decker.
Don graduated from the McIntire High School in 1956 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy the same year.
On April 14, 1959 he was united in marriage to Donna Maire Owens at Riceville, Iowa. Don was employed at the Oliver Corporation in Charles City, Iowa as a machinist and was also a lay-pastor at the Faith Baptist Church in Cresco, Iowa.
Death came suddenly on Sunday, May 27,1973 as the result of an automobile accident. He is survived by his wife Donna of Charles City, Iowa; a daughter, Dixie at home; his mother Mrs. Lois Decker of Cresco, Iowa and a sister; Mrs. Robert Patton of New Sharon, Iowa. Preceding him in death was a sister Joyce and his father John W. Decker.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 30, 1973 at 2:00 p.m. at the Temple Baptist Church in Charles City, Iowa with Rev. Alfred Pratt officiating. Miss Minnie Pratt was the pianist with Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Lamb the singers. Interment was in the Wayne Cemetery at McIntire, Iowa. Casket bearers were: Arthur Brookings, Charles Earp, Keith Eldridge, Max Gordon, Richard McLaren and Eugene Woolworth.
Arrangements were with the Martz-Hutchins Funeral Home in LeRoy, Minnesota.
