Halvor O. Blakestad
Halvor O. Blakestad was born in Mitchell County, Iowa, in 1864, and died after an illness on May 21st 1924, at 11:15 a.m. He had reached the age of 60 years. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. O. Blakestad, who had come here from Norway. They were among the first settlers in Otranto.
He made hishome here, except for a few years when he lived in North Dakota. He was united in marriage to Miss ________ at Davenport, North Dakota in April 1901. They came to Iowa the same year.
He is survived by his ______ sisters and three brothers; ____ Olson, Sask, Canada, Mrs. P. _______ North Dakota, Mrs. E. Gaarder, ___ Iowa; Ed Blakestad, Me___ . . . Oliver and Louis Blakestad.
Funeral was conducted Saturday, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. of which he was a faithful member. The remains are at rest in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mona, Iowa.

THE OBITUARY OF HALVOR O. BLAKESTAD
Halvor O. Blakestad was born in Otranto Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, Jan. 17th, 1864, and died after a lingering illness May 21st, at 11:15 A. M. Thus he reached the age of 60 years 4 months and 4 days. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. O. Blakestad, who came here from Norway when they were but children. They were among the first settlers in Otranto Township.
The departed made his home here always as he grew up, except a few [illegible].
He was united in marriage to Miss Inger Jackson at Davenport, N. D. the 28th of April, 1901. They came to Mitchell County, Iowa, the same year.
About a month ago Mr. Blakestad went to the hospital where he remained a couple of weeks. While there he seemed to gain, but the improvement was of brief duration. Monday, the 19th of this month, he sustained a stroke and from that time he gradually grew weaker until he passed away.
Mr. Blakestad is survived by his wife, three sisters and three brothers: Mrs. C. K. Olson, Sask., Can., Mrs. P. Erickson, Crary, N. D., Mrs. E. Gaarder, Kensett, Ia., Ed Blakestad, Mena, Ark., Oliver and Louis Blakestad of Lyle.
The funeral was conducted Saturday, May 24, at our Saviors Lutheran Church, Mona, of which the deceased was a faithful member. The remains were laid to rest in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
