#1:

Death has again visited our town and plucked from the household of one of our most esteemed citizens the one who has ever been the light and life of that household. We refer to the death of Mrs. S.E. Woodward, who passed away Monday morning.

She had lingered along in the fatal grasp of that dread disease, consumption, for a long time, and her death was not unexpected by her relatives and friends, nevertheless, when the stoke descended its force was none the less felt than as if it had come without warning, for hope always holds out to the last.

The news of it has fallen like a pall over our entire community, as she was known and beloved by all. A christian from conviction and principle she was ever firm in her faith and exemplified it by her actions, and the loss to both her relatives and the community is keenly felt. To the husband who is thus deprived of a wife's companionship and to the other relatives who will know her no more except in memory and their pictures of the Bright Beyond, we would extend the kindliest and sincere sympathies of the people of St. Ansgar in this their hour of sorrow.
