OBITUARY

Sarah A. Crandall was born in Orleans County, Vermont, March 16, 1832, and died in Osage, Iowa, January 25, 1899, aged sixty-six years, ten months and nine days.

She was united in marriage with Gaskill Spaulding in the year 1858, came west and settled in Fond du Lac Co. Wisconsin, near Brandon in the town of Alto. After spending nine years in Wisconsin they went back to Vermont for the short period of two and a half years, and then in 1869 they came west again and settled in Osage, Iowa, where with the exception of a little time spent in Tennessee, they remained until death called them hence. Mr. Spaulding died in the year 1893, since which time she and her only daughter had led a quiet life among her many friends here.

She was converted in early life at the age of eighteen and united with the M.E. Church. She has been an efficent teacher in the Sunday School for many years. She was a noble hearted woman full of faith and good works, always looking for opportunities to do good.

When death came it found her ready. The funeral services were held in the M.E. Church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, where amid beautiful decorations and in the presence of a large and sympathetic audience Rev. B. D. Smith, her pastor delivered a very appropriate and touching eulogy on the character and life of the departed sister.
