OBITUARY-GOVIER

Lucinda Washburn was born May 26, 1853, in North Paris, Maine, and departed this life March 29, 1917, at her home in Cedar. Her parents were Luther and Abigail Washburn. She was one of a family of eleven children, two boys and nine girls, all having preceded her to the other life but her youngest sister, Mrs. J. T. Hamilton, of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

On Thanksgiving day, 1852, she was married to Samuel Bryant. To this union one child was born, Mary Enmma, now Mrs.C. H. Fancher, of Bridgeport, Conn. Mr. Bryant passed away July 3, 1855. The following year she came west with her parents and settled in Belvidere, Illinois. Here she was united in marriage to John Govier in 1861. Shortly afterward they came west and settled near Osage. She had lived nearly fifty years in this community, over thirty-three years of this time on her farm west of town.

To this union five children were born: William, of Stewartville, Minnesota; Mrs. Annie Fehr, of Osage; Jennie Casey of Kingston, Illinois; Charles P.,of Cedar; Mrs. Lillian Welch, of Osage.

The husband of this dear one was called home Feb. 7, 1884, thus leaving all the care and responsibility upon the breaved widow.

There are left to mourn the loss of the departed one, the sister, the six children and one great grandson.

Funeral services were conducted at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Welch, in this city Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock and the remains were laid to rest in the Osage cemetery.
