Mrs. Phebe West-Woods

Phebe Ann West was born at Fort Ann, N. Y., on the 28th day of July, 1831, and died at Osage, Iowa, June 18, 1915.

At the age of fifteen, she moved with her parents to Waukesha, Wis. She was united in marriage to Samuel Woods in 1850. To this union were born twelve children, eight of whom survive her, and six were present at the funeral.

In the fall of 1895 her family moved to Iowa and located on a farm in Rock township of Mitchell county. Since the death of her husband twelve years ago her home had been in Osage with her daughter, Ida, who tenderly cared for her through many years of her feeble health. For five years past she had been very weakly. After a week of severe, illness, she passed into an unconscious state on Saturday morning and on the Lord's Day she fell asleep to wake and be forever with the Lord.

Many years ago Mrs. Woods united with the Baptist church. Her life was marked by a quiet trust in Christ her Saviour, and a sweet devotion to God. A large family of children rise up to call her blessed. The sons are: James W., of Douglas, Kansas; Andrew D., of Sask.; Ernest W., and Mervin R., of Mitchell county, Iowa; the daughters are: Mrs. Martha Bennett, of Nora, Minn., Mrs. Elizabeth Raymond, of Creighton, Nebraska; and Mrs. Ida Kesner, of Osage, Iowa. There are also twenty-nine grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held from the residence at Osage, Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock in charge of Rev. Rolla E. Brown, pastor of the Baptist church, assisted by Rev. H.O. Allen.
