Funeral services were held today at 1:30 p.m. from the Gilman Rust home, three miles north of St. Ansgar, and from the M.E. church at 2:00 o'clock for Charles Rust, 16, with the Rev. W.F. Belling in charge.

Charles Gilman Rust, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilman Rust, was born on December 12, 1922. Charles attended rural school at the Pleasant Prairie school, completing the 8th grade in May, 1936. The same fall he entered the St. Ansgar High School as a Freshman, where he was a student in the Junior Class at the time of his tragic death, late in the afternoon of November 14. He became a member of the Methodist church on April 28, 1935, and was a member of the Sunday School.

Charles was very popular with his schoolmates and teachers. His cheerful and happy disposition will long remain in the memory of those who were associated with him. He was a member of the high school football squad, and worked hard and long for the success of his team.

Besides his parents, Charles is survived by two brothers, Gene and Allan, his sister Katherine, his grandmother, Mrs. Betsy Rust of St. Ansgar; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Hanson; three uncles and four aunts.

AUTO COLLISION
TAKES THREE LIVES

St. Ansgar, Iowa, Nov. 15, 1938 — Mitchell county authorities today investigated a head-on automobile collision in which three persons were killed and three others were injured seriously. The accident occurred last night a mile and a half north of here.

The dead are Clarence Goldberg, 45, St. Ansgar; Charles Rust, 15, and Robert Adams, 16. The youths lived on a farm near here.

Charles Libersky, Jr., 15, was near death. Goldberg's wife and Catherine Rust, 14, sister of Charles Rust, were reported in serious condition.

The four young persons were returning home from high school and the Goldbergs were traveling toward St. Ansgar.

Coroner George Krepelka said the exact cause of the crash was not determined. He said one of the autos apparently was traveling near the center of the road, possibly confusing the other driver, causing him to lose control of his machine.
