WILLIAM RICHARDSON
DIED SATURDAY EVE.
AFTER LONG ILLNESS"Bill" Richardson passed away at his home in the northeast part of town Saturday night, after being in failing health for several years. Mr. Richardson was the Osage "woodpile commissioner" until about a year ago, when he became too feeble to attend to his duties and moved from rooms over the Earl Lewis place of business to his last location.
Mr. Richardson was about 80 years of age. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Richardson. He was born in New York state, and was one of a family of fourteen children. The parents moved to Burr Oak Township when he was a young lad, settling on a farm which was his home until their death about thirty years ago. Then he moved to Osage and had been a resident here since.
Of the large family, only three of the brothers survive -- Richard who farms in Burr Oak; John, on a farm near McIntire; and Charles who operated the home place. Those who have passed away are Victoria, Mrs. Amy Maxham; Mrs. Julia Donner, Mrs. Birum Judd (Mathilda), Mrs. Joe Squier (Jane), Allan, Danny (who was drowned when a small boy), Harold, Homer, Albert, and James.
Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at the Shelledy Funeral Home, in charge of Dr. Gilbert Chalice of the Methodist church, and burial was made in the Osage Cemetery.
