Obituary-Hollingsworth
Mary Hannah Leonard was born November 8, 1869, at Lester, Blackhawk county, Iowa. Mitchell has been her home since 1871. After graduating from the public schools of Mitchell, she was a student in the State Teachers college at Cedar Falls. She engaged in teaching for a number of years. She was married to Samuel Hollingsworth, March 29, 1892. Mrs. Hollingsworth was the mother of six children, all of whom survive her.
She united with the Congregational church when but a young girl and her vows of faith in her Lord and Master, she held inviolate until He called her to the Better World. She was a woman of high ideals and clung with great tenacity and exemplified the same in her own manner of life to the limit of her ability. She was a good mother and in her life she did the best she could.
Something more than a year ago her health began to fail, but ambitious to complete her year of service in the schoolroom, she kept on until dire necessity compelled her to stop. At the Mayo hospital at Rochester, Minn., she peacefully fell asleep and obeyed the summons to; "Come up higher." That summons came last Thursday, June 10, at the age of forty-five years. The funeral was held from the home of her parents, Mr. and Mra. L. G. Leonard, Saturday afternoon. Rev. O. M. van Swearingen conducting the same.
