THOMAS WATTUM OF OSAGE DIES
MITCHELL COUNTY RESIDENT SINCE 1868 WILL BE BURIED THURSDAYOsage, Oct. 17 – Thomas H. Wattum, 73, died at his home here early Tuesday morning following a cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. Wattum was born at Gran Hadeland, Norway, coming with his parents to Mitchell County in 1868. He was a farmer until retiring in 1911, since which time he made Osage his home.
He served as street commissioner for eight years.Besides his wife he is survived by a sister, Mrs. B. Flatla of Plymouth; a brother, Paul Wattum, Osage; and three children; Ruth and Henry of Osage, and daughter Helga; Mrs. Elmer McGee of Mexico, Missouri.
Funeral services were announced for 1:30 p.m. Thursday at his residence, and 2 o’clock at Immanuel Lutheran Church, in charge of the Rev. E. A. Evenson.
Burial will be at Rock Creek Cemetery.

#3:Torsten (Thorsten, Thomas) Hovelsen Hvattum was born December 9, 1861 at Skjervum, Gran, Oppland, Norway to Hovel Torstensen Hvattum and Rangdie Povelsdatter, the second of their 3 children.
He emigrated to Mitchell County, Iowa with his parents in the spring of 1868.
Found in the 1870 census at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa: Hoovd T Vettrum 40, Rougdena Vettrum 35, Christina Vettrum 14, Thomas Vettrum 9, Paul Vettrum 5.
He was confirmed at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church on May 7, 1877.
Torsten married Randi Halvorsdatter Lee on January 9, 1908 at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. The couple had 3 children: Ruth, Helge and Tryggve.

Torsten Hvattum died October 16, 1934 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa and was buried at Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Mitchell, Iowa, Lot Z1.
