T. HENRY HVATTUM – September 17, 1914 – August 23, 2004

MASON CITY -- T. Henry Hvattum, 89, of 4 3rd St. NW, died Monday (Aug. 23, 2004) at the Good Shepherd Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave. with the Rev. James M. Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with an Elks Lodge service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be given to the Senior Citizens Center.

Henry was born Sept. 17, 1914, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Thomas H. and Randi (Lee) Hvattum. He graduated from Osage High School and Hamilton School of Business.

Henry married Katherine M. Wilmot Aug. 21, 1935, in Charles City. They recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.

The Hvattums moved to Mason City in 1943.

Henry was the distribution manager for GAF Photo for 33 years. He retired in 1976.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge No. 375, where he was Past Exalted Ruler in 1964. He was also past president of Toastmasters and the Exchange Club.

Henry is survived by his wife, Katherine M. Hvattum of Mason City; daughter, Randi Christensen and husband G.Wayne of Floyds Knobs, Ind.; five grandchildren, Dori Ashburn and husband Scott of Mason City, Mike Warner of Mason City, Lisa Holifield and husband Don of Birmingham, Ala., Brian Christensen of Floyds Knobs, Ind., Janelle Sumner and husband Brian of Louisville, Ky.; and two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Abigail.

Henry is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Linda Warner; infant son, Thomas; and two sisters, Ruth and Helga.
