Funeral services for Mrs. Etta Bless, 78, were held at St. John's Lutheran church at Grafton Friday at 2:30 p.m. following services at the home at 2 p.m.
Mrs. Bless died Tuesday afternoon, August 30 following a series of heart attacks while at Mercy hospital at Mason City.
Henrietta Friderecka Bless was born October 14, 1877, at Rock Twp., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hasse. On November 25 of the same year, 1877, she was baptized by the late J.L. Jellinger, then pastor of St. John's Lutheran church. After the required course of instructions in the doctrines of her church, she was confirmed on the 22nd day of March in 1891 by the late Rev. Westenberger.
On April 14, 1896 she was married in St. John's church to Louis Bless by Pastor Westenberger. This marriage was blessed with 3 children. The couple made their home on the farm about 2 1/2 miles southwest of the church. In 1944 they moved to St. Ansgar where she resided until her death last Tuesday, August 30, at the age of 77 years, 10 months, and 3 days. Her husband preceded her in death on December 29, 1950.
Our departed sister was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran church.
Survivors are the three children; Clarence Bless of St. Ansgar, Mrs. Wilma Wagner of St. Paul, Minn. and Mrs. Dora Tesch of Long Prairie, Minn. Among other survivors are 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one brother William Hasse of Grafton. Three sisters preceded her in death.
In memory of Mrs. Henrietta Bless, a memorial in the sum of $84.50, has been received from relatives and friends to be used in the work of the Kingdom of God.
At the time of her last illness she was taken to the Mercy hospital and every possible aid was given.
