FORMER NORTH IOWAN DIES AT TUCKAHOE, NEW YORK

Osage – Harry Bittenbender, 56, died Wednesday at Tuckahoe, N. Y. Funeral was to be held Friday afternoon. He was reared here, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Bittenbender, and moved with his parents to Ames where he attended Iowa State College.

He married an Osage girl, Bessie Chase, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Chase.

For many years, he was an instructor in the poultry department at Iowa State, then resigned to go to Springfield, Illinois, in the same work. A few years ago he affiliated with the Borden Company, with headquarters in New York.

Surviving are his wife at Tuckahoe, and 3 sons; William, at Tuckahoe; Capt. Dick Bittenbender, Quantico, VA; and John, doing radar work on the west coast.

Harry Artley Bittenbender was born July 14, 1888 in Osage, Mitchell, Iowa, the son of William Bittenbender and Emma Jane (Artley) Bittenbender.
He married Bessie Abbott Chase, the daughter of Bert Chase and Lizzie (Abbott) Chase.
