Funeral services for Mrs. Edwin Pike, 75, who died Friday, October 30, 1959 at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital at Osage, were held November 3, at the First Lutheran church, St. Ansgar, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Don Hamilton officiating.
Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery at St. Ansgar.
Mary Johanna Johnson was born July 23, 1884, in Rock township, Mitchell county. She was the daughter of Anton and Agnetha Johnson. She was married March 18, 1903 to Edwin Roy Pike.
Twelve children were born to them. Besides her husband, she is survived by eight children: Laura (Mrs. Chester Hendrickson), Austin, Minn.; Evelyn (Mrs. Edward A. Nelson) Albert Lea, Minn.; Anton and Lawrence of St. Ansgar, Edna (Mrs. Harold Knutson), Riverside, Calif., Warren of Clear Lake, Delores (Mrs. Dean Thompson), Northwood, and Crystal (Mrs. Everett Braun) of Grafton. Preceding her in death were 4 children, Earl who died in 1906, Pearl in 1916, Erwin in 1936, and Diane in 1947.
Besides the immediate family, Mrs. Pike is survived by her 29 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She also has four surviving sisters and one brother; Mrs. Minnie Gordon of Carpenter, Mrs. Alma Larson of Osage, Mrs. Ida Perkins of Lyle, Minn., Mrs. Archie Dockum of Carpenter and Clarence Johnson of Osage.
Preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters, Julia, Anna and Nellie, and one brother, John. Although Mrs. Pike had not enjoyed her usual good health the past year, her conidtion was not considered serious until she submitted to surgery Oct. 9. At that time cancer was detected.
