Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 12, 1986 at Champion Funeral Home in Osage for Sam Woolworth, 82, a retired custodian at the Osage Community Schools and First Baptist Church. Mr. Woolworth died Tuesday, June 10, 1986 at an Osage hospital. The Rev. J. Newland of the First Baptist Church officiated, and burial was in the Osage Cemetery.
Mr. Woolworth was born on January 11, 1904 in Union Township, Mitchell County, to Benjamin and Flora (Wilson) Woolworth. He graduated from Osage High School and attended Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Missouri. He and Lois Starr were united in marriage on January 25, 1936 in Osage. He was employed by Western Union for many years and was custodian at the Osage Community School, retiring in 1968. He was then custodian at the First Baptist Church from 1968-1976.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Edna; three brothers, Clyde, Roy and Chauncy.
Survivors include his wife, Lois of Osage; four daughters, Mrs. Marold (Janet) Weaverling of Osage, Mrs. Marshall (Mary Jean) Trout of Thornton, Colorado, Mrs. Robert (Nancy) Boutelle of Davenport and Mrs. Alan (Ann) Lund of Marshalltown, and ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
