Richard E. “Rick” Wentworth

ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA -- The funeral for Richard E. "Rick" Wentworth, 69, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Rochester, with the Rev. Steven Ronningen officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood East Cemetery.

Mr. Wentworth, a former insurance salesman of Rochester, died Wednesday (Oct. 25, 2006) at Saint Marys Hospital, following a stroke.

He was born February 5, 1937, in McIntire, Iowa. He moved to Brownsdale with his family at age 5, attended Brownsdale Elementary and was a 1955 graduate of Austin High School. He married Arlene A. Nelson on June 14, 1957, in Austin.

After their marriage, they moved to Moorhead, Minn. They moved to Rochester in 1959 and settled on Lake Zumbro in 1971.

In 2000 they retired to Rochester. He was a salesman, working at Nietz Electric. He then sold insurance for Employers Insurance of Wausau, then for Forsyth Insurance and later for Heartman Insurance.

He retired in 1995. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking, traveling, reading westerns and socializing, and was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Barry (Barb Froemming) and Bryce, both of Rochester; two brothers, John of Hurst, Texas, and Charles (Jacquelyne) of Minneapolis; and three sisters, Mildred Byrd of Rochester, Shirley (Charles) Ferguson of Austin and Dorothy (Jim) Nelson of Blaine, Minn.

Other survivors include two grandchildren, Richard W. (Jamie) Wentworth and Keegan H. Wentworth; and a great-grandchild, Madyson M. Wentworth.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be an hour before the service at church. Memorials are preferred to the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church remodeling fund.

Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Homes is handling the arrangements.

Richard E Wentworth was the son of Jess John Wentworth and his 2nd wife Goldie Irene (Evans) Wentworth. His parents are buried in the Wayne, Mitchell Co., Cemetery
