John William "Jack" Kline -- 1937-2001

LYLE, MINNESOTA -- The funeral for John William "Jack" Kline will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Lyle, with the Rev Ruben Spinler officiating. A private burial service will be in Cedar City Cemetery.

Mr. Kline, 63, of Lyle, a longtime Hormel Foods Corp. employee, died Monday (Aug. 6, 2001) at his home.

He was born October 27, 1937, in Albert Lea and graduated from high school in St. Ansgar, Iowa, in 1955. On February 2, 1957, he married Carol Ann Barclay at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin. For a number of years, he was a mechanic in various shops and for the past 34 years worked at Hormel. He also farmed with his sons.

Mr. Kline was a member of the London Volunteer Fire Department for more than 40 years, a member of the Lyle American Legion, a charter member of the Lords of London Snowmobile Club, and a longtime member and treasurer of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Lyle.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Deanne (Robert) Silbaugh of Lyle; two sons, Gene (Darci) of Lyle and David (Mary) of London; nine grandchildren; a brother, Jerry (Sue) of St. Ansgar; and five sisters, Diane (Roger) Zuehl of Racine, Wis., Nancy (Don) Salisbury of Rudd, Iowa, Janet (Robert) Bruetswitz of Rochester, Sonja (Tom) Yahnke of Allen, Texas, and Linda Currens of St. Ansgar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather and a brother.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin, where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m.

John (Jack) William Kline, 63, of Lyle, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at his home.

He was born October 27, 1937, in Albert Lea to William and Agnes (Trench) Kline.

He graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1955. He married Carol Ann Barclay Feb. 2, 1957, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church.

He spent many years working as a mechanic in various shops and for the last 34 years, he worked for Hormel Foods Corporation. He farmed with his sons. He was a member of the London Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years, a member of the American Legion of Lyle and a charter member of the Lords of London Snowmobile club.

He was a faithful member and treasurer at Queen of Peace Church, Lyle.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Kline, Lyle; daughter and son-in-law, DeAnne Silbaugh and her husband, Robert, Lyle; sons and daughters-in-law, Gene Kline and his wife, Darci, Lyle; David Kline and his wife, Mary, London; nine grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry Kline and his wife, Sue, St. Ansgar, Iowa; sisters and brothers-in-law, Diane Zuehl and her husband, Roger, Racine, Wis.; Nancy Salisbury and her husband, Don, Rudd, Iowa; Janet Bruetswitz and her husband, Robert, Rochester; Sonja Yahnke and her husband, Tom, Allen, Texas; Linda Currens, St. Ansgar; sister-in-law, Donella Kline, St. Ansgar; mother-in-law, Dollee Barclay, Austin; nieces, nephews and aunts.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Buddy Heimer; brother, Jim Kline; and father-in-law, Clifford Barclay.

Service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Lyle with Father Ruben Spinler officiating.

Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary where there will be a 7 p.m. wake service tonight.

Interment: Cedar City Cemetery

Memorials: Mower County Chapter of the Red Cross or American Cancer Society
