Dies at WaterlooWATERLOO, Iowa - Burnell L. Flack, 51, prominent Waterloo Mason and cable supervisor for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Co., died Wednesday after he suffered a heart attack while playing golf at the Byrnes Park Municipal Golf Course here.
Mr. Flack was a past master of the local Masonic lodge and had been serving as Masonic instructor of the Grand Lodge of Iowa. He was a past president of the Northeast Iowa Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers of America and was a veteran of World War II, receiving two Bronze Stars while serving with the Army Signal Corps.
He is survived by his wife, he mother, Mrs. Hazel Flack of Osage, a daughter, three sons, four grandchildren and a brother.

#2:OSAGE -- Staff Sgt. Burnell Flack arrived home Friday evening, having received an honorable discharge and having lost 40 pounds while in the service. He had 92 points, having been overseas for 20 months.
He has five Bronze Stars. Sergeant Flack had been in service since August 1942. He was in the signal corps of the Sixth Army, and was in Australia, New Guinea. Leyte, and Luzon.

NOTES:A news article dated about 1947 showed them living in Osage, and told of them having three children: Franklin, Jim and Patricia.
A fourth child, "Ed," is mentioned in his wife's obituary.
Burial was at Waterloo Cemetery.
His wife's name is Edna (DeWitt) 1915-2011.
She was the daughter of Frank & Sarah Ankrom DeWitt.He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Flack of Osage.
