MISS GRACE WALKER

Miss Grace Walker of Seattle, Washington, died February 24, 1949, after a brief illness due to a heart attack.

Miss Walker, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Walker, former residents of Osage, was born June 9, 1886. She attended the Cedar Valley Seminary and Denison University in Ohio. In 1908 she moved to Seattle, Washington where she completed her college training at University of Washington in 1910.

After a few years spent in Seattle she moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma to become secretary to the president at Bacone Indian College. In 1934 she returned to Seattle and was employed as clerk in one of the Seattle Public Schools at the time of her death.

Miss Walker was preceded in death by her father and mother and her brothers, Richard, Hart, and Fred.

Immediate survivors are her sisters, Mrs. Annie M. Kingsbury and Miss Ruth Walker of Seattle, Washington.

A memorial service was held in Seattle at the Tabernacle Baptist Church, of which Miss Walker was an active member, and funeral services were held at the Champion Funeral Home in Osage March 1, 1949. Burial was made in the Osage Cemetery.

Besides her sisters, relatives from out of town attending the services were Mrs. Fred Walker and Joseph Walker of Brownsdale, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Walker and family of Nora Springs, Mr. and Mrs. Merle Miller and children of Austin, and Mr. and Mrs. Warren Walker of Carpenter.

DIED LAST THURSDAY
IN WASHINGTON

Funeral services for Grace Walker, 63, of Seattle, Washington, were held Wednesday afternoon, March 2, at the Champion funeral home in Osage, with Rev. O. Melquist, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. Burial was made in the family lot in the Osage cemetery. Miss Walker died last Thursday in Seattle, Washington, of a heart attack suffered while teaching school.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.M. Walker of Burr Oak township and received her education here. She taught in Iowa and Washington.

Surviving are two sisters, Ruth and Mrs. Anna Kingsbury, both of Seattle, Wash. Two brothers, Hart and Fred, preceded her in death.
