RICEVILLE — Mildred A. Beery, 88, of Riceville, died Tuesday (Nov. 29, 2005) at the Riceville Community Rest Home after a long illness.

Mildred A. Beery was born April 5, 1917, in Riceville, Iowa, the daughter of John and Mary (Morrisey) Gaffey. She graduated from the Riceville High School. She worked at Wall Variety Store, taught school a few years and her and her husband ran the Coast to Coast store in Rice-ville.

She married Daniel Henderson in 1947, he died in 1957, and in 1968 she was united in marriage to Richard Beery.

She is survived by her children, William (Janet) Henderson of Rochester, Minn., James Henderson of Iowa City, Iowa, and Susan (Douglas) Nauman of Wilton, Iowa; two stepsons, Michael (Pat) Beery of Pine Island, Minn., and Bryan (Mary) Beery of Arizona; 14 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; a granddaughter, Jaclyn Henderson; four brothers, John, Jim, Paul and Art Gaffey; three sisters, Margaret Brown, Lucille Adams and Rene Hemrich, and two infants.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville with the Rev. Ray E. Atwood officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
