Funeral services were held on Friday, January 31, 1986 for Mabel Peterson, 88, of Osage, Iowa, at Champion Funeral Home. Dr. Charles Kary, interim pastor at First Baptist Church of Osage officiated and burial was in the Osage Cemetery. Mrs. Peterson died on Tuesday, January 28, 1986 at an Osage nursing home.

She was born on February 23, 1897, to Levi and Agnes (Smith) Gifford. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Osage.

She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters; a daughter, Theone in 1933; her husband in 1963; her stepson, Erwin in 1984; and one great-grandson.

Survivors include her daughter, Merlene Peterson Rogers of Osage; five grandchildren; Marc Rogers of St. Maries, Idaho, Bryan Rogers of Osage, Laurel Rogers Richter of Lodi, Claif., Shirley Peterson Allbee of Sacramento, Calif, and Mary Kay Peterson Klaffke of Taylor Ridge, Illinois; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
