Richard Harris, 74, died Monday [Jan. 3, 1949, or possibly Dec. 27, 1948] at the Mitchell County farm where he had made his home the past two and one-half years. He fell ten days ago and had not been well since.

Mr. Harris was born in England and came to Mitchell county as a young man. He lived with his sister, Mrs. Gean Steele of McIntire for some time, and was employed in stores at McIntire and Riceville. He never married.

Surviving are his sister and a brother, A. W. Harris of Waterloo.

NOTES: It is believed that "Gean Steele" is really Jane Steele, or Jane Harris, as mentioned in the 1880 census, below.
