Funeral services for Russell Dean Ring, 18, were held on Saturday, May 12, 1979, in the Donald Johnston Gymnasium at Riceville, Iowa. Rev. B. Hinrichs officiated, with burial in the St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery south of Riceville.

Russell passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 1979, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

Russell Dean Ring was born on August 3, 1960 at Osage, Iowa, the son of Wilford and Ilene (Roe) Ring. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Riceville. He attended all his school years at the Riceville Community School and would have graduated with the Class of 1979. He was active in sports and was on the all-state conference football team. He was a qualifier in the State Wrestling tournament during his junior and senior years, placing 3rd in his junior year and 4th in his senior year.

Survivors include his parents; four brothers: Ricky, David, Daniel and Robby, and one sister, Deanna, all at home; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ring, Riceville; Mrs. Inez Roe, McIntire; Mrs. Mary Iverson, Monrovia, Calif.; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
