Minnie Ring 1870-1950
Mrs. Minnie Ring passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Utesch, Wednesday afternoon, May 17, 1950. She was given a Christian burial on Saturday, May 20, funeral services being conducted at her home southeast of Riceville, Iowa, and at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Riceville, conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. Schroeder. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Interment was made in St. Peter's Lutheran cemetery, south of Riceville.
Wilhelmina Ring, daughter of the late August Kliem and his wife, Friederika, nee Lembke, was born in Giesel, Germany, June 26, 1870. There she was baptized in the name of the Triune God, in infancy, and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on Palm Sunday, 1884.
In April of 1891 she came to the United States and in October of the same year she married August Ring, in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, at Elma, by Rev. Schmidt.
Since coming from Germany, Mrs. Ring spent most of her life in Howard county. For some time she had been in failing health. A few months ago she became seriously ill, and about 4:30 o'clock last Wednesday afternoon, May 17, 1950, she departed this life at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Utesch, near Riceville, at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 21 days.
She leaves to mourn her, six sons: Fred of Keene, New Hampshire, Emil, John, Harry, and Clarence, all of Riceville, Iowa, and Charles of Tacoma, Washington; her three daughters: Mrs. Walter Hiller, Mrs. Fred Utesch, and Mrs. Marvin Kruger, all of Riceville. She is survived also by 26 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. At the time of her death she had no more living brothers and sisters.
