JANESVILLE --- Merlyn George "Pops" Acker, 80, of Nashua, formerly of Janesville, died Thursday, April 15, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, of natural causes; services 11 a.m. Monday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, 352-1187, with burial in Horton Cemetery, rural Waverly; visitation 9 a.m. until services Monday at the funeral home; memorials to Cedar Valley Hospice

Merlin George Acker was born March 4, 1924 in Bremer County, Iowa, the son of Fred Acker and Luella (Wentworth) Acker.

He married Velma Rosella Worple, the daughter of William Worple and Eliza (Kruger) Worple of Riceville, Iowa. They had 3 sons, Gerald, Gary, and James and lived in Elma, Iowa.

They must have divorced and he remarried because his tombstone in the Horton Cemetery has Ila Mae Acker 1932-1999 on it.

His first wife Velma died in 2009 and is buried in the Riverside Cemetery, Riceville, Mitchell, Iowa.
