The photo of Rose is from a newspaper article in the Riceville Recorder, Oct. 7, 1976 -- on file at the Riceville Public Library. Rose is holding a peanut plant.

The full photo caption says:

Plains Georgia is not the only place that can boast of having a peanut grower. Pictured [below] is Mrs. Rose Reckner, with some of the peanuts she grew at the Riceville Community Rest Home. Rose and her daughter, Mrs. Harlan (Marie) Day of Union Grove, Wisconsin, planted two peanuts (out of the shell) in a little covered cup this spring. In just 1½ days, it had spouted and Rose stated, "it was fun to watch it grow". After she was sure the plant wouldn't be harmed by the cold weather, it was planted outside, in a planter on the patio of the rest home. Rose harvested her 16 peanuts the last week in September.
