RECKNER, Richard Karl 1900-1994
Funeral services for Richard Karl Reckner were held at 10:30 a.m., on July 26, 1994, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Riceville, with Rev. R. Pfeil officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Richard Karl Reckner was born on December 2, 1900 on the home place in Afton Township, Howard County, Iowa. He was the son of Ephriam and Mary Ann Kruger Reckner.
He attended the church school in Mitchell County, and was a life-long member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Richard farmed the home farm where he was born and also farmed other farms with his brother, Alfred.
On March 20, 1934 he married Irene Neidert at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. To this union was born three daughters.
Surviving Mr. Reckner are his daughters, Donna Jean Carter, Waterloo, Iowa; Myrtle Mary Christensen, Riceville; and Dixie Gerholdt, Buckingham, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Mary Carpender of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene, on January 8, 1984; one grandchild; his parents; two brothers, Alfred and Harry; and three sisters: Louise Kapka, Alvina Bohneman, and Lillian Hobert.
