Howard Lenard McInroy Dies Suddenly

Howard Lenard McInroy was born July 3, 1889, on a farm northwest of Riceville to Frank and Lennah McInroy and spent his entire life here. He was second in a family of three.

He passed from this life from a heart attack at his farm home Monday May 10, 1954, at 2:30p.m. at the age of 55 years and 10 months. He had been in failing health for the past year and recently had been in the hospital at Osage suffering from two previous attacks.

Dec. 14, 1919 he was united in marriage to Ruth Fuller of Riceville. To this union four children were born: Lela (Mrs. Harold Engelhardt) Riceville; Mary, who died in infancy, Lenard; Charles City and Luella at home.

Howard was of cheerful disposition never complaining of his illness and always busy doing kind deeds for neighbors and friends. He became a member of the First Baptist church of Riceville in September 1953, and was a Christian man. He will be sorrowfully missed by all who knew him.

Sixteen years ago he was united in marriage to Zella Zachas of McIntire and they lived on various farms until they purchase their home one and a half miles north of the Mossville School.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Orval, sister Lucille and daughter Mary.

Those left to mourn his passing are his loving wife, Zella; his three children, six grandchildren, two step-daughters and one step-son and their children; one niece and two nephews and other relatives and friends.

The funeral was from the Riceville Baptist Church at 2 p.m Wednesday with the Rev. B.H. Thorlakson officiating. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery.
